The GYO is one of Los Angeles Counties leading youth orchestra. The GYO has played twice in recent years at the Walt Disney Concert Hall to great ovation. In 2011, the GYO auditioned and was selected as a PREMIER LA Phil Youth Orchestra. Our mission is based on the belief that our young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions. GYO provides young musicians in grades 6-12 from all over L.A. County a unique opportunity to play classical music.
The GYO has been a Resident Company of the Alex Theatre since 1995.

The GYO is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture.
